Nurse Practitioner opportunity in the Hematology/Oncology clinic with Cook Children's Health Care System located in Fort Worth, Texas. The oncology program is part of a large Hematology and Oncology Center with 15 physicians and 10 nurse practitioners. The program sees more than 200 new cancer cases per year. We are seeking a seasoned Oncology Nurse Practitioner who will function in an outpatient oncology clinic role collaborating with physician(s) in a private office setting. The Nurse Practitioner will autonomously perform patient assessments, diagnosis, perform procedures and interventions and will carry out treatment plans according to approved protocols. Opportunity to develop and maintain own volume of patients and provide office coverage for physician(s) during periods of absence. Will plan and prescribe a variety of modalities to meet wellness and illness needs, up to and including hospital admission, infusion center therapies and prescriptive authority.
A degree from an accredited school of nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing is required. Minimum of two years’ experience either as a pediatric nurse or family nurse practitioner in a primary or acute care setting preferred. Experience in Hematology/Oncology is required. Licensure to practice professional nursing and recognition from the State Board of Nurse Examiners as an Advanced Practice Nurse will be required for Texas. Certification as a Pediatric or Family Practice Nurse Practitioner and current certification in Basic Life Support required. Current certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
