Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants
Boston Medical Center and Boston University School of Medicine is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join the Division of Pediatric Hematology.
The Nurse Practitioner will serve as the clinical coordinator for the sickle cell clinic. S/he will collaborate with the care team to provide direct patient care, care management and consult services for children with sickle cell disease and other conditions in benign pediatric hematology.
They will be responsible for overseeing care management including actively managing the sickle cell registry with a focus on transitions of care between inpatient and outpatient settings. They will have the opportunity to conduct clinical sessions for urgent care, after-hospital care, routine sickle cell follow up, and for visits associated with procedures (transfusions, IV iron infusions).
They will provide direct medical care for patients in the ambulatory procedural unit as well as provide oversight and education for other clinical providers on the unit.
The Department of Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center dedicates its service to children, adolescents and young adults in urban communities. The majority of families seen in the hospital come from underserved racial ethnic minority populations and resources are largely directed at serving low-income families, immigrants, and the homeless. Thirty percent of patients do not speak English as a primar...y language, and many face challenging deterrents to healthy development associated with poverty and socioeconomic stress.
