The registered nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards. The registered nurse assures safety in practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available. Responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers. Responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities. The registered nurse will participate in unit performance improvement activities. The registered nurse uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs. Utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of patient care using appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement. Successful completion of Orientation Program. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, and currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state. BLS, ACLS certification required and PALS certification preferred. SGNA certification preferred. Completion of all Mandatory Competencies, in-services, educational offerings.
