JOB TITLE:Pediatric Procedural Sedation Nurse LOCATION: Geisinger Medical Center Hospital DEPARTMENT:Pediatric Sedation Services WORK SCHEDULE: Days WORK TYPE: Part time .5 FTE 40 Hours Biweekly payperiod
JOB SUMMARY: Assesses, plans, organizes, performs and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of pediatric patients receiving procedural sedation. Provides health education to parents and patients pre and post sedation. Initiates and interprets hemodynamic monitoring parameters. Coordinates efforts of the multidisciplinary team in planning patient care. Evaluates effectiveness of sedation plan. Collaborates with department secretary to schedule procedures. Reviews patients' medical record for sedation risk assessment criteria. Participates in the team's Performance Improvement activities.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction in accordance with the goals and objectives of the Geisinger Health System.
Reports directly to the Operations Manager.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an approved school of nursing required.
RN currently licensed (or eligible) in the state of Pennsylvania required.
Current PALS certification and IV certification required.
Documented experience and skills with managing central lines required.
Minimum of three years of pediatric experience required. A minimum of one year of current pediatric critical care experience preferred.
Moderate Sedation Certification required within 1 year of hire
