| The Johns Hopkins All Children’s Cancer & Blood Disorders Institute (CBDI) is recruiting an additional pediatric BMT physician to join our growing Blood and Marrow Transplant Program (BMT). The JHACH BMT program is Florida’s largest pediatric BMT program. We perform about 40 hematopoietic stem cell transplants and CAR-T infusions each year, with about 25% of allogeneic transplants performed for non-malignant disorders. Our program has consistently excellent outcomes and performs cell-transplantations for a variety of malignant and non-malignant disorders. In addition, we were the first pediatric center certified for commercial use of tisagenlecleucel to treat high-risk B-ALL and NHL and have infused over 25 patients since 2018. Our program provides a full range of blood and marrow transplant services, utilizing a range of donor and stem cell sources, including haploidentical transplantation with either T-cell depletion or post-transplantation cyclophosphamide. In addition, we offer a one-year pediatric BMT fellowship, providing an innovative, collaborative, personalized and learner-centric training experience.
We have recently opened the Center for Cell and Gene Therapy for Nonmalignant Conditions (CCGNC), focusing on expanding the curative treatment options for children with rare primary immunodeficiencies, immune dysregulation syndromes, bone marrow failure syndromes, metabolic disorders, and other conditions. Within this center we have numerous consortium, industry-sponsored, and investigator-initiated clinical trials that provide cutting edge treatment opportunities.
The CBDI is closely affiliated with H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, the only NCI-designated cancer center in Florida. Investigators participate in clinical trials offered through the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), Therapeutic Advances in Childhood Leukemia & Lymphoma Consortium (TACL), Neuroblastoma & Medulloblastoma Translational Research Consortium (NMTRC), and Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium (PBMTC). The transplant program is accredited by FACT (with Moffitt) and COG and is a member of the Center for Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR).
JHACH is a 259-bed teaching hospital, ranked as a U.S. News & World Report Best Children’s Hospital in eight pediatric specialties (2020-2021) including Cancer. Resources include a Clinical and Translational Research Organization, state-of-the-art Biorepository, and multi-omics Molecular Determinants Center and Core. As one of the largest pediatric Hematology-Oncology centers in the southeastern United States, the CBDI is a leading center for treatment and clinical research. As the Institute continues to grow, collaborative relationships are also expanding with the Johns Hopkins University (JHU) Department of Oncology, the Sydney Kimmel Cancer Center, the JHU SOM Division of Pediatric Hematology, Moffitt Cancer Center and Tampa General Hospital. These relationships give clinicians and researchers access to clinical trials, translational research opportunities and internationally recognized expertise.
Qualified candidates may be eligible for a part-time or full-time faculty appointment in the Department of Oncology and Department of Pediatrics, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. There are many opportunities for CBDI physicians to develop clinical, educational, and research interests.
