Job Summary The Nurse Coordinator in Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Pediatric Medical Infusion provides direct patient care, including chemotherapy administration and medical infusion services. This role supports evidence-based nursing practice, protocol development and nursing leadership to enhance patient care, workflow efficiency and team development. Working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary care team, including resource nurses, physicians, advanced practice providers and administrative leaders, the Nurse Coordinator optimizes the patient experience while ensuring operational effectiveness.
Primary Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care, including administering chemotherapy, biologics and medical infusions.
Perform patient triage and phone triage, and manage in-basket messaging.
Support physicians and advanced practice providers during clinic visits and infusions.
Monitor and maintain clinic flow, offering patient education as needed.
Identify patient care needs and coordinate appropriate resources.
Create and maintain a safe, effective and therapeutic environment.
Serve as a clinical and leadership resource in collaboration with the Nursing Director.
Promote professional development within the nursing team.
Delegate responsibilities effectively in coordination with nursing leadership.
Plan and lead nursing team meetings to share updates and best practices.
Develop, evaluate and refine nursing team competencies, protocols and onboarding processes.
Partner with nursing leadership to assess and enhance operational activities.
Participate in process improvement initiatives and the implementation of program goals.
Skills, Abilities and Competencies
BLS certification required; PALS preferred.
Strong clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills in pediatric hematology oncology and medical infusion care.
Ability to work with complex patient populations and interdisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated excellence in clinical practice and professionalism.
Adaptability and flexibility in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills.

Qualifications Licenses and Certifications:
Current licensure as a CNS/NPS in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required.
Relevant professional experience as a nurse practice specialist.
Education:
Graduate from an accredited nursing program required.
Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree in nursing preferred.
Experience:
Minimum of 5–7 years of pediatric oncology nursing experience required.
At least 5 years of experience in a formal nurse leadership role or equivalent.
Experience in nursing education or professional development preferred but not required.
Working Conditions
Outpatient clinic setting.
Occasional after-hours responsibilities.
