The Overton Brooks VA Medical Center, Shreveport, LA, has an immediate opening for two full-time, board certified/board eligible Hemotology/Oncologists. Shreveport is situated on the Red River in northwest Louisiana. Commonly known as the 'Ark-La-Tex', the point where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet. You'll enjoy a unique combination of two great American heritages: a little Cajun, and since we're less than 15 minutes from the Texas border, a little Lone Star, too. Highlights of this position include:
Competitive Starting Salary $300,000-$354,000
Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 8am-4:30pm., may be required to work unscheduled hours in case of an emergency or when on call
Clinical duties will focus on General cardiology and Cardiac Electrophysiology
Promotes, directs, evaluates and is responsible for the management of safe patient care to oncology and hematology patients
Obtain a comprehensive health history and perform a physical examination on all patients who present to the Oncology/Hematology clinic or other assigned clinical area
Order diagnostic studies and interpret laboratory tests, EKG, and radiology diagnostic
Coordinate Oncology care between numerous hospital services including General Surgery, ENT, Urology, Liver Clinic, Women's Clinic and Palliative Care
Must be a U.S. Citizen. Non-Citizen candidates will be considered if a U.S. Citizen is not found
Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State
Additional Requirements:
Academic appointment at LSU School of Medicine is available but not required. (Board certification required if interested in academic appointment.)
