Pediatric Critical Care – Major New York Teaching Hospital
Northwell Health is seeking a full time BE/BC Pediatric Critical Care physician to join the Department of Pediatrics at Staten Island University Hospital, a teaching hospital of The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. Highlights include:
The PICU is a 4-bed medical-surgical unit caring for patients with multiple medical and surgical diagnoses including pulmonary, cardiology, neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, hematology-oncology, trauma, otolaryngology, oro-maxillofacial and spine surgery. The multidisciplinary team consists of residents, pediatric critical care nurses, pediatric respiratory therapists, social workers, dieticians, and child life. We have 3 pediatric CC physicians that staff the unit. The unit and its staff are embedded in a department with a full complement of pediatric subspecialists and a fully independent, ACGME-accredited residency program. Our Pediatric Hospitalist service provides care in an adjacent 20 bed pediatric unit and there is an active Level III NICU serving a birth population of approximately 3,000 births per year. The Children’s Emergency Center at SIUH, which sees close to 20 ,000 children a year, is the primary source of our 300 annual admissions. The hospital is a designated Level II Pediatric Trauma center and a regional burn center. We are a branch of the Cohen Children’s Medical Center-Northwell Health, a quaternary care children’s hospital, which provides pediatric critical care transport and more advanced level services, when necessary.
Clinical responsibilities include CriticalCare at Staten Island University Hospital.
Administrative, supervisory, and teaching responsibilities include supervision of Pediatric residents and medical students, participation in core educational program including simulation and development of research/quality improvement projects.
Founded in 1861, Staten Island University Hospital is a 714-bed, specialized teaching hospital located in New York City’s fastest growing borough. Occupying two large campuses, plus several community-based health centers and labs, the hospital provides quality care to people on Staten Island, the New York metropolitan region, and to patients from around the world.
Staten Island is the third largest borough in New York City and is home to diverse neighborhoods, parks, natural areas, and cultural attractions. It is right over the bridge from either Brooklyn or New Jersey, or you can reach Manhattan via ferry, or less than 30 minutes via car. “The small town in the Big City” affords suburban living within the confines of the Big Apple; the best of both worlds. Wherever you roam, you will encounter breathtaking views, world class culture and education and a neighborhood to fit every palate.
We offer a competitive compensation and benefits package. Academic appointment with The Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell is commensurate with credentials and experience.
